School History...

Fairton School was established in 1901 to service the needs of the Fairton township and surrounding areas. In 1968 the school was moved to its present site on land donated by a local business. The Hakatere Marae has since been established on the old school grounds.

The population from which Fairton School draws has been steadily increasing with the growth of the Fairton township and continued subdivision of rural land for residential development. Parents are realising the benefits their children gain from being a small community based school where the child's individual needs are met.

If you have any memories of Fairton School or old photographs and would like to share them with others on our web site we'd be pleased to hear from you. We think it important that our children develop a sense of history and pride in their school.
