Fairton is a U1, Decile 6 Contributing School. We are uniquely located in a small rural community but still just 4 kilometres north of Ashburtons town boundary (population 17,700). Ashburton is a major, thriving South Island town currently undergoing a signifcant boom based on the buoyant rural economy. As a contributing school, we cater for students Year 1 - Year 6, in a family atmosphere unique to rural schools. Relatively small class numbers ensure that we are able to cater for the individual needs of our students. Fairton is a well resourced rural school, you will find two classrooms, a well stocked physical education shed, library, swimming pool, netball court and sports fields. Wherever possible our resources are made available to the community outside school hours. The playground is also open for the community to use with the adventure playground being very popular (built with community assistance - thanks everyone). Parents are involved with assistance in sports, library and classroom programmes, grounds maintenance and accompanying children on school camps and trips. The school has a strong family atmosphere and we pride ourselves on our sense of community spirit.
